The Roomsounds are a Dallas, Texas based rock n' roll band. Their back-to-basics approach is a breath of fresh air, a reminder of simpler times, when bands could actually play their instruments and write great tunes.

But it's no accident that these twenty-somethings are wise beyond their years. Prior to moving to Dallas, three of four members played together in a New England based band, had a record deal, and toured the U.S. several times over on festival tours and DIY tours alike.

Singer/songwriter Ryan Michael says of the move from the Northeast to Dallas, "The idea was to scrap all the bullshit we'd been through over the years and start over, somewhere new, with no expectations. We just wanted to hide away and write the best songs we could."

The newly formed, unnamed project relocated to Dallas, TX in 2009, where the band rented a small rundown house in the suburbs. They made the garage their rehearsal space and turned the living room into a recording studio. Eventually an album's worth of material was written, which the band recorded themselves.

"Anytime you record in a space that's not acoustically treated, you pick up a lot of "room sound." That's sort of where the name came from. To us, it's important to maintain an organic vibe, for better or worse, to sound like a real live rock 'n' roll band," Michael adds.

While the band's sound might be more contemporary then their classic rock roots, The Roomsounds have fused their blues-rock-country-folk influences into infectious songs that would sound just as good on 70's AM radio as they would blaring from iTunes. The band's timeless sound has been warmly greeted in an area of the country known to embrace authentic original music and are becoming a favorite of the roots-rock revival in Texas.
